Each week I post the Engaging Word of the Week on Twitter. The engaging word will not be especially complex or technical; instead it is one that is seldom used. The aim is to expand and colour our everyday use of the English language.
Anyone who is interested in words can participate in the following challenges:
- Identify usage of the word and tell others who are interested. For example; if you heard it on the TV or the radio then tells us what you were watching or listening to. Or perhaps you are a fan of music and books, then tell us what song or what book it’s been used in.
- Use the word as many times as you can during the course of the week.
- Tell us on Twitter or Facebook where you have used it. For example: your appraisal, a presentation, a Blog or Tweet, in the context of a general conversation. If you are a Toastmaster include it in your speeches.
If you are not following me already on Twitter please do so. http://twitter.com/TheHiddenEdge
If you prefer you can join the Facebook club Facebook Engaging Word of the Week
Or you can do both.
It’s a great word for Christmas. I certainly felt de-isolated on Sunday, after a week in my hobbit like cave of an office, having a mass of friends round for brunch.
